The Nontoxic Home

Ivy Leaf Line Divider

Willow Firesong is chemically sensitive and suffered from related medical problems for years before proper diagnosis permitted treatment of the underlying problem.

In the course of that treatment, I learned a lot about how to make a safe, nontoxic, and chemical-free home for myself and my family.

Here I intend to share with you safer ways to approach your whole home, and wean your household off of unnecessary dependence on dangerous toxic chemicals.  Every aspect of the nontoxic home will be covered in time, from design and building materials, techniques, and construction, to safe, nontoxic ways to clean just about anything.  Learn also about organic gardening and yard care methods to keep your property chemical-free.  Even your houseplants can help filter the chemicals out of the air in your home or office!

You can learn much more about living a chemical–free and non–toxic life from others who have done so, on mailing lists, newsgroups, and through local MCS/EI support groups.

Two of my favorites are:

For those in Australia:

CDANET @ Onelist.com

A Discussion/Chat/Mutual help list run by and for the CHEMICALLY DISABLED.  The list is Australian based but as Chemical Disability is a worldwide problem people from other countries will be most welcome.  If you have MCS or are otherwise disabled by chemical exposures or help those with a chemical disability you are most welcome to join us here.

Our Own

Green Canary Mailing List

also offering a place for sharing files, such as informational articles or tips on Green Living, toxins, relevant environmental and health care / social activism, and a calendar for posting topic–related events, like Earth Fairs, Support Group meetings, informational TV shows, etc.

This mailing list community is for anyone interested in learning more about man-made toxins, and how to prevent or survive the damage they have done to our own health, as well as that of the planet as a whole, and all its inhabitants, great and small.

Those of us who are Chemically Sensitive are often referred to as "canaries": like the canary in the coal mine, we are more sensitive than those around us, and our condition makes us into painfully sensitive detectors of toxins invisible to the naked eye, before they cause obvious health problems in those around us.

Hear our warnings, and help us learn from each other, as you share your own knowledge and experiences with a concerned, interested, dedicated audience of people committed to, or interested in learning more about, a safe, natural way of life, for the sake of survival.

Please join us, if you share our interest in a sustainable way of life that we can leave to our children, and our children's children.
